On the weekend of the railway's Autumn Gala, usually held towards the end of September, and the Diesel Gala,
usually held in June, trains have used this section, some trains being freight trains carrying passengers.

Aylesbury Vale Junction - Quainton Road
On Spring and August Bank Holiday Mondays a shuttle service of trains between Aylesbury and Quainton Road used this section.
2010 dates: 3 May, 30 August
2010 schedule: 1000 from Aylesbury and then hourly until 1700, returning 30 mins later
Mossend East Junction - Mossend North Junction
On Sundays prior to Christmas
an hourly shopping service runs between Shotts and Glasgow Central via Whifflet.

For Gall Gael Viking Festival and Halloween Weekends, trains used this section (south line) (instead of the Inch Abbey line).

For Christmas service ("The Lapland Express") from 2009 trains ran to Inch Abbey and back, then
backed to the Loop Platform by a short section of the south line.
